Welcome Note from the Executive Director
Haydom Lutheran Hospital (HLH), a 420-bed Regional Referral Teaching Hospital with over 600 staff and a 70-year history, serves nearly two million people in rural Northern Tanzania. As a not-for-profit institution committed to “Being excellent in saving lives,” HLH provides primary and specialized care, trains medical students from around the world, and conducts impactful clinical and community research. The hospital is funded mainly through its own income, alongside support from NORAD (via NCA) and the Government of Tanzania, with steady progress toward financial sustainability. Dedicated to serving marginalized and underserved communities, HLH warmly welcomes partnerships through prayers, volunteering, and donations—whether equipment or financial contributions—to support patient care, research, and training.
