Welcome Message
I cordially welcome you to Haydom Lutheran Hospital to partner and work to foster our great vision “Being excellent in saving lives”.
HLH has grown from 50 beds toa a capacity of 420 beds in the past 70 years. Today the hospital has more than 600 employees, serving about two million population in the catchment area. The hospital is operating as Regional Referral Teaching Hospital offering primary and specialized clinical services. As a teaching hospital, HLH is a practical hub for medical students from all over the global. HLH has a well functioning research institute that conducts clinical and community research in the country.
The hospital financing is from different sources, own income (from patient revenue and income generation activities) being main source followed by grant from NORAD (through NCA) and the Government of Tanzania. The journey toward self financial sustainability is progressing well with positive trends.
We are not for profit organization, serving marginalized poor communities and rural Northern Tanzania. Our main mission is to serve the underserved with competent quality health services. Being not for profit we depend very much on support from volunteers and donors with hearts for serving the underserved and marginalized communities. We welcome everyone to work and partner with us through Prayers, Volunteering, donations (be equipment or money) to support patients care, research and Training. Your donation can impact the health of children, women and elderly who are unable to pay for their medical services.
